Frequently Asked Questions

Services and Capabilities

What services do you offer?
CreataCo is a full-service digital agency. We build custom websites, design brand identities, run SEO and Google Ads campaigns, and launch Shopify and WooCommerce e-commerce stores. Most clients come to us for one piece and grow into a multi-service partnership over time. You can see the full catalog on our services page.
Do you specialize in any industries?
We work across more than twenty industries, with the deepest bench in home services, construction, healthcare, restaurants, nonprofits, and real estate. Industry experience lets us skip the discovery basics and focus on what actually moves the needle for your specific market. Browse our industries directory to see how we approach each vertical.
Do you do SEO and digital marketing in addition to web design?
Yes. A beautiful website that no one finds is just expensive art, so we treat marketing as part of the same engagement. Our digital marketing service covers technical SEO, local SEO, content strategy, Google Ads, and analytics setup. Many clients keep us on a monthly retainer after launch to keep compounding their growth. Read our local SEO guide for small business for a sense of how we approach it.

Process and Timeline

How long does a typical website project take?
Most websites launch in four to eight weeks. Brochure sites with five to ten pages tend to land at the four week mark. Larger builds with custom integrations, e-commerce, or migrations from a legacy CMS run closer to eight or ten weeks. After the discovery call we send a precise timeline with milestones and stick to it. Book a discovery call if you want our read on your specific scope.
What does your design process look like?
Four phases: Discovery, Strategy and Scope, Design and Build, and Launch and Grow. Discovery is goal setting and audits. Strategy locks the sitemap, design direction, and deliverables so there are no surprises later. Design and Build runs in two-week sprints with review checkpoints, so you see progress and steer the work instead of waiting for a big reveal. Launch covers QA, deployment, training, and the first weeks of post-launch tuning. You can see the same process applied in our portfolio case studies.
Do I have to be in Detroit to work with you?
Not at all. We are headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, and serve clients across all 50 states. Most engagements run entirely remotely over Zoom, Slack or email, and a shared project tracker. Our service areas page lists the cities where we have done the most local work, and we are happy to travel for kickoffs when it makes sense.

Pricing and Ownership

How much does a website cost?
Project pricing depends on scope. Most marketing sites start around $2,500 and scale up based on number of pages, integrations, and how much custom design is involved. E-commerce builds typically start higher because of catalog, payment, and shipping setup. Our pricing page lists the current packages. After a short discovery call we send a detailed proposal with a fixed price and timeline. For more on what drives the number, see our breakdown of what a website actually costs.
Do you offer monthly retainers or one-time projects?
Both. One-time project work covers the build, launch, and a 30 day warranty period. Monthly retainers cover hosting, maintenance, content updates, SEO and ongoing marketing, and analytics reporting. Many clients start with a one-time project and roll into a retainer at launch, but there are no long-term contracts and you can pause anytime. Talk to us on the contact page and we will recommend the structure that matches your goals.
Do I own my website after the project is done?
Yes. You own the domain, the hosting account, the source code, and any brand assets we deliver under our branding engagements. We hand over admin credentials at launch and document everything in a launch packet so you are never locked into working with us. Read our terms and conditions for the formal ownership language.

Technology and Maintenance

What CMS do you build on?
We match the tool to the project. Most marketing sites are built on a modern stack like Next.js or WordPress with a custom theme. E-commerce ranges from Shopify for fast retail launches to WooCommerce for tighter WordPress integration. We can also work in your existing stack if you already have one you like. For a deeper comparison on the commerce side, see our writeup on Shopify versus WooCommerce.
Do you provide hosting and ongoing support?
Yes. Managed hosting, SSL, daily backups, plugin and security updates, uptime monitoring, and a guaranteed response window on issues are all part of our care plans. Pricing depends on the size and stack of the site, and current options are listed on our pricing page. Most clients on a care plan also bundle in monthly content updates and analytics review so the site keeps earning its keep. Background on what this should run is in our post on website maintenance costs.
Can you help with an existing website, or do I need a full rebuild?
Both are options. If the existing site is structurally sound we can take it over for ongoing maintenance, performance work, SEO, or feature additions. If it is older, slow, or actively working against you in search and conversion, a rebuild is usually faster and cheaper than patching. We give a candid recommendation after a short audit, with no pressure either way. If you suspect the latter, our piece on why your website is not generating leads covers the usual culprits.

Getting Started and Other

How do I get started?
Book a free 30 minute strategy call from our contact page. We use the time to learn about your business and goals, look at your current site if you have one, and recommend a path forward. There is no pitch deck and no obligation. If we are a fit, you will have a proposal in your inbox within a few business days. Want to see how we think before the call? Our blog covers most of the same ground.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. We are happy to sign your NDA before discovery, or send ours if you prefer. We also build confidentiality into our standard terms and conditions so most projects can move forward without a separate document. Email hello@creataco.com with your NDA and we will return it the same day.
What if I am not happy with the work?
We design around review checkpoints so you are never surprised at the end. Each milestone includes a round of revisions, and if direction needs to change we surface it early instead of pushing through to launch. In the rare case a project goes sideways, our terms and conditions cover the cancellation and refund process. The best protection is the relationship though, and the way we keep it is by staying close, owning mistakes, and not hand-waving on results. Read what existing clients say on the portfolio for the longer answer.
